Request for music recs

Hi all!  I am signed up for NaNoWriMo, and I have a request:

My story has to do with the Fae.  Please comment with your favorite music that makes you think of magic, transformation, the fae, spooky themes, overly intense romantic love, or apocalypse.  For example this Bjork song:

Come To Me (1993)  --the spookiness of the song is in the awesome magickal instrumentation, and in Bjork's overly intense emotion in the lyrics -- and of course her ethereal and otherworldly performance style.  I'm pretty sure Bjork has a lot of Fae in her lineage anyway.  :)

Yes, it's the Fae Apocalypse.  Cheerlead for me!  :)

I was on vacation this weekend, but I have two out of four women drafted for 9.2, being, the Grandma Demon, and Sergeant Miranda Bates.  I still need more for Hunter Tracy Bell ....  and I have thoughts about Josie Sands, aka, the vessel of Abaddon, plus Abaddon herself.  Hopefully I will get these all out before Tomorrow Night!!!

Check out anything by Lorena McKinnett. Her voice is amazing, and much of her stuff is ethereal or Celtic-sounding.

I have Stolen Child on my list already. I like her very much -- and thanks for the rec! :)

I was thinking of things like "All Soul's Night", "Sacret Sabbat", "The Mummer's Dance", "The Mystic's Dream", "Standing Stones". She has just such good stuff!!

I recommend the band Dead Can Dance. I also think a lot of the music that Bear McCreary did for Battlestar Galactica, while not specifically fae oriented, has that sense of ominousness and foreboding and like you've trespassed in the dark spaces. I'm especially thinking of Something Dark Is Coming.

Edit: LOLOL, I didn't finish reading your post before clicking to comment, so clearly you're on the Bjork train already! Well, great minds!

I'd go with Bjork, myself. Not your traditional British Isles-y folk music, but she's always struck me as pixie-like. Vespertine, Homogenic or a greatest hits collection will do nicely. :) Good luck!

thanks for those specific songs. I have the album "elemental" but those songs are elsewhere -- so i'll look them up. I appreciate it!

Thanks very much! Of course over the years I've heard a lot of mention of Dead Can Dance, but don't actually have any of their songs. I'll look for the BSG as well. I love soundtrack music. :)

I have a ton of Bjork albums. I think she is awesome!

I also really like, for my fae playlist, "all is full of love"
"alarm call" "bachelorette" that are all off of Homogenic. They are superb!!

I like it when Bjork talks about the Fair ones who live in Iceland. She is so cool. :)

Look for "The Visit", "Parallel Dreams, "The Mask & the Mirror", "The Book of Secrets" and "An Ancient Muse". Those are the album titles.

Probably won't be excerpting... I would not be able to deal with the massive echo of crickets. :P It is the same novel from last year, but hopefully with a new improved frame around it. :)

Thanks for the song link!

Belatedly (apparently this tab has been open just that long): Seanan McGuire and SJ Tucker.
