We had one aspect of a daeva in 1.16, but in this story, even the statue of a daeva carries powerful negative energy. I like how in the mythology the daeva and the peri are matched oppositionally.

Dean kind of caught a little break in this mid-s9 story while Sam did all the heavy lifting. Sam is awesome that way.

..... and, because this was a Sam Messiah story, it is about Sam's special destiny and his powers. Usually I focus on his redemptive powers, but still, it was good to see him really save the day here just by being Sammy in all his unique goodness.
