FIRST DAY OF SPRING!!!

oh my goodness, I thought spring would NEVER COME THIS YEAR.

Birds are singing, sun is shining.  My local organic market is running a SAVE THE DANDELIONS campaign.

If you have a recipe for dandelions share it here -- or comment if you are curious about recipes for dandelions. :)

Redwinged Blackbirds have been swarming my neighbor's yard.  They say "kerrrr ka CHEEE!"  THEY ARE DELIGHTFUL.

Also Cardinals chipping like crazy.  And starlings of course, whom I love.

Lovely, isn't it? I was at a stop sign this afternoon with my car window down and there was just a chorus of birdsong from a bush by the sidewalk. I smiled. A lot.

it was like 50º today! and the sun even came out! next thing you know we'll be seeing crocus!

Dandelions are a little bitter. The closest thing to them I think is frisee/endive. They are good if you add a sweet dressing. :)

The light makes a big difference to my mental health. But also, I'd rather have it too hot than too cold. Brr!

I love spring too :) So much gardening to do! All the veg seeds are in though at least.

As for dandelions, I gather you can roast the roots and then use them as a coffee substitute. Can't tell you if it's any good though.
