Snowpiercer anyone?
Bueller??
I think at least two folks on my flist have seen this movie -- please link me because I went back a long way and could not find your reviews.
For the record I thought it was incredibly gripping, and I WOULD recommend it. However, you need to like films that are not made in America. You have to realize that this film is based on a FRENCH GRAPHIC NOVEL. So if you like, for example, CITY OF LOST CHILDREN, then you are prepared for this film. It is NOT trying to be the next Transformers.
Chris did an awesome job btw.

It is a hardhitting moview about class struggle, limited resources, our destiny as a species, etc. So be prepared!

I haven't seen La Citée des Enfants Perdus yet, but I did see their other film, Delicatessen ;-)

my reaction was basically "HOLY FUCKING SHIT I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT". and also "oh, my heart". i liked it as much as you can like such a bleak, black-humored, rocks-fall-everyone-dies movie - when that's not generally your thing - and i thought everyone in it was fantastic and it looked fucking stunning and i'm really glad i got to see it, but i can't sit through it again. it was kind of intense.
(apparently it bears very little resemblance to the graphic novel, altho the guy who drew the graphic novel did the charcoal illustrations in the movie.)
