This piece grew pretty slowly as I worked and reworked the dynamics of their interaction. On the one hand I have Weary Jack, whose experience of the Doctor has been very painful in many ways.... and on the other, Ace, who has also seen the Doctor decide for her where she fits into the scheme of things.
They're really using their conversation about the Doctor to create that connection between the two of them, that shared experience that they can then build on. I love the thought of friendship between these two... the idea that maybe Jack can shake off Torchwood at last and be part of what A Charitable Earth will become.
