s9 was such a dark season of pain and desperation, and the end left them in a place EVEN WORSE.
Sam's plan to try and get Dean to realize that they are two separate people with separate ideas about what life might hold for them fell to pieces now that Dean is a Knight of Hell. Sammy's going to do whatever it takes, as always.
