Beam me up, Scotty!--Random Meme
Aug. 28th, 2010 02:19 amHere's how it works:
Leave me a comment by saying "Beam Me Up, Scotty!" I'll respond by asking you five completely random questions. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions. Include this explanation and offer to ask other people questions. If you'd like to play, lemme know. No worries either way
These are the questions
borgmama1of5 asked me:
1. How many addresses have you had in your life, and where did you live the longest?
home, college, semester abroad!, first grad school apartment, second grad school apartment, current own house.
I lived the longest at home, but i've reached the point in my life that I've now lived longer in my current state of residence (suburban Maryland) than in my home state (WV), which is pretty freaky.
2. What comes to your mind when you think of the color mauve?
I think of Dave Barry writing about fashion.... he read a fashion critic who said something was "a clever conflation of luxe and loose moods" and he turned it into "a clever convention of shlubs in puce shoes" which I have laughed about for at least 20 years. :)
3. If you had the chance for a private meeting with either Jared or Jensen and could ask only one question, who would you ask what?
It's very interesting that I rehearse what con questions I would ask, but I never rehearse what private question I might ask. Hmm.. I'd love to know more about Jensen's inspirations and process in songwriting, but that's more of a con question (not that he would answer it!); I'd also love to know more about his religious beliefs and/or political leanings, since I get the impression that he comes from something of a conservative background. I'm always interested in people's beliefs and their personal journeys.
4. If you where stuck on an island with a solar powered DVD-player, what one movie would you want?
I've never thought of "desert island DVD"! My boy and I just rewatched "Beauty and the Beast" for the umpteenth time the other day, so that would be a nice one. I love the music so much, and the whole myth really resonates with me. It's the one Disney film I think they got just right.
5. Have you ever looked back on your life and thought of the earliest spot where your future could have gone in a different way if you had made a different choice?
Yup. My decisions about grad school certainly affected the way my life has gone. The big crux was after I finished my MFA.... I could have gone anywhere from there.
