Facebook is a thing I don't get
Mar. 12th, 2014 09:07 amMy job required me to get a facebook. urgh.
I did the thing where I friended some people. It still seems pretty random. One of my acquaintances posts a lot of great stuff. Another only posts horribly disturbing things that have been done to animals. D: DNW!! please do not raise my awareness!! am already only too aware!! A third only reposts stuff about how women have been objectified. sigh.
My actual friends rarely post. My feed is just combined of the above friends, mingled with funnies and touchings that are reposted by other folks from buzzfeed. My sister does post, but somehow I never see her posts because of all the other ones.
Anyway, I ventured onto facebook this morning after a friend request from an old boyfriend who moved to my current town. (facepalm) I accepted the request. A very sweet person, but I can't imagine that he spends much time on facebook??
And.... for your happy morning, I am reposting a Funny and a Touching.
20 Jokes That Only Intellectuals Will Get. As an intellectual, I can promise you that these jokes are in fact freaking hilarious. :D :D :D The Buddha walks up to a hotdog stand is number 17, but all the others were new to me. A few of the engineer ones I did not get, though I think I saw what they were about (4, 11, 12?).
And here is a baby with a mud puddle. You can almost see the gears turning in the baby's head. :D Also a sweet dog.
ETA: Here is a great mocking song about the dangers of being an intellectual. Kevin Johansen is American-Argentine. His song is in Spanish. But just listen for the girl who does the bridge. It is all about the name dropping. :D
Cumbiera Intelectual. Then listen again for all the names he drops. You can also try to translate the song but google translate doesn't get the whole thing. She croaks in the end because she neglects her health in favor of high thought. :P Shakespeare, William; Terry Gilliam. :D
...okay, now I've been cruising through recordings of Mr. Johansen on youtube. I just love his music. There is a lot of fun and humor, and a great Latin sound, and his gorgeous voice, and pretty guitar. What more could you ask for? :)
