fannishliss: old motel sign says motel beer eat (Default)
Hi all, I found a beautiful print at the thrift store.  It looks like something that would have been hanging on the wall in the house where I grew up.  Does anyone recognize it? the internet has failed.  I figure it is from 1890 or so. The piece is a steel cut engraving in a gilt frame, with a wood backing.  The engraving is very fine and is probably machine assisted.  There is a greek temple in the middle distance.  The ghost in the background is my husband's reflection in the glass in front of the print. :P  I figure it is an Allegory of Summer?  Just wondering if anyone might recognize it.  :)

PS, the thing it reminds me of is an old print of The Age of Innocence by Sir Joshua Reynolds.  :)
