Comment to this post, and I will list five things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.
I got my questions from the nifty and perceptive [livejournal.com profile] who_in_whoville.
1. Who is the biggest baddest damn hero of them all?  Snape...
2. Would you want to be a member of the Firefly crew? and would you ever trust Jayne? YES ...
3. Which fairy tale character are you most like?  the Prince in Sleeping Beauty....
4. Did you understand Twin Peaks?  yes!  :D
5. The Doctor shows up on your doorstep, but he is off to face the Daleks. Do you go with him? Yes....

1. Who is the biggest baddest damn hero of them all?
The Doctor, Dean and Sam Winchester, Xena, Frodo -- but to me, the most heroic character is Severus Snape.  My husband doesn't like him because he is a mean person, which I acknowledge, but I also feel great sympathy for him the way his life was doomed by the circumstances of his birth, upbringing, and sorting into Slytherin.   But I think his lifelong repentance and deep sacrifice is probably the most heroic thing I could ever imagine.  Yes, I am a Snape!girl, and what's more, he survived Nagini's bite and is alive and well and running an apothecary in Spain.

2. Would you want to be a member of the Firefly crew? and would you ever trust Jayne?
OH YES.  I would love to be a member of the Firefly crew.  I would take Shepherd Book's place as Shepherd Novelette.  As Jayne's workout buddy, I totally trust Jayne.  I crochet a knife cozy for him that matches his cunning hat. I appreciate Jayne's wholehearted dedication to his mercenary skills.  I may even have long philosophical conversations with him about the War and why Mal and Inara are so whack around each other, and I finally manage to convince Jayne of all the reasons why the crew needs his loyalty and all of his awesome skills and talents so that Jayne will always put the crew of Serenity first from now on.

3. Which fairy tale character are you most like?
I'm like the Prince that fights his way through the thorns to get to Sleeping Beauty.  I like to hack away at things and I'm happy when I attain the goal.   Every so often, I'm that same Prince but in the Rapunzel story while he is blinded by the thorns and wandering about in the forest eating grubs, waiting for the true love's healing tears.    But mostly I'm the happy one with my true love firmly in hand.

4. Did you understand Twin Peaks? Be honest. LOL
Yes!    lulz!
I love David Lynch, absolutely LOVE.  His storytelling mind is so genius with the juxtaposition of the beautiful and the macabre.  Now, given, I may have glossed over the bits that I didn't understand (why Josie is a knob?)  but mostly, I do get it.  Lynch is this paroxysm of wonder at the beauty of the world, horror at the dark side of it, and desire -- which is a tricky blend of unsavory lust and worshipful appreciation.  Everything is Tao with David.
I adore his way with soundtrack as well.  The soundtrack to Twin Peaks has been on heavy rotation in my house since I first purchased it in the 90s.  I also own a great album of David Lynch performing songs by Hildegarde of Bingen with soprano Jocelyn Montgomery (the album is called Lux Vivens and I wholeheartedly recommend it!)
My husband says that I am good with narrative but also that where narrative fails I just spin a narrative that makes sense.  That is really the case.  So oftentimes I don't even see what people call "plot holes" cause I just patch them over within context without even realizing it.    But I think ultimately, Twin Peaks was about the seduction of Dale Cooper to the Dark Side.  It ended with him being taken by Killer Bob.  In my head canon, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully follow a trail of gruesome to Dale and together, they defeat Killer Bob, and Dale goes off to spend a number of years in a zen monastery, where he ponders the nature of reality and eventually attains peace with what has transpired.  Mulder was in his short-lived transvestite phase and going by Denise when he first knew Agent Cooper, but he always recognized Dale as a great genius of investigative technique verging on the paranormal. :D
My personal ranking of Lynch:
#1 -- Lost Highway
#2 -- Twin Peaks
#3 -- Blue Velvet
#4 -- Dune  (best unintentional shlock ever!)
#5 -- Mulholland Dr.
#6 -- The Straight Story  with the immortal opening credits "walt disney presents a david lynch film"
#7 -- the Clean up New York PSA!!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSWv90msTUc

5. The Doctor shows up on your doorstep, but he is off to face the Daleks. Do you go with him?
At first I was like "No, my first duty is to my husband and son" but then I was like "I can best serve my husband and son by fighting the Daleks alongside the Doctor."    I am that rare bird, the sometimes Hawkish Leftist.
