Here is David reading "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day."

It's always lovely to hear David's beautiful voice, but this performance seems a little flat.  What is up with this?  Why does he seem so tired and disengaged?  He's usually so vibrant....  in this he's like Hamlet reading it at Ophelia's funeral.  bzuh?  o_O

Every auditor is an expert! I'm glad it worked for you. :)

I'm really unused to finding any flaw in David's work, so it really caught me by surprise. ... I think it's a flaw in the direction, and I'd be really curious to see the other actors who are reading in the series. The text turns color when the line is being read, so David is reading each line out, very slowly, and with pauses.... and you can see his eyes moving as he reads! Maybe because this is one of the sonnets my husband knows by heart, and so I associate it with a lot more emotion in the voice.

I guess I'm just used to David being so very alive. This was as though he'd just been filming The Minor Character and sat down and read this. ;P

I didn't find it flat, as much as restrained. It was almost as if he was thinking about what he wanted to say to his love, composing on the spot, not having her in front of him at the time.

Yes, It did have a "Minor Character" feel to it a bit. I think part of the problem was his eyes. They were following the text and not emoting as they usually do. I hadn't noticed them moving as he read the first 4 times I watched this. :D

I just hope they open this app for the Android market...and soon!

I could listen to him read all day long. I was just surprised by the way he was filmed. I'm not used to hearing the sonnet sound so restrained. And usually, David adds a lot in to a reading, rather than keeping it so mellow..... it surprised me! At any rate I'm glad folks have enjoyed it! :)

Yes, we are all so used to the manic Ten or intense Brendan etc. that it is a bit of a shock.

As I said, I do hope they make this app for Android. I refuse to buy Apple products (beyond the obligatory iPod).

(and I do so love that icon!!! - being jealous of fingers is just wrong)

I could listen to him read from the phone book *sigh*

With this though, I found it better NOT to watch him, as it does look likes he's reading it there and then, which I found off-putting.

just listening though....

*THUD*
