I have a cedar carving of the Raven over my front door.
I was so pleased with my poem from yesterday. :)
I walked around the lake three times yesterday. There were so many birds. I saw a lot of bluebirds for the first time in a long time. Robins of course. Cardinals. Many waterfowl. There were two pileated woodpeckers that I took several dozen photographs of! The Ravens would be amused to think that I was watching woodpeckers and then came home to write a Raven poem. Unfortunately there are no Ravens here, but there are crows, which is almost as good. One time there was a crow on top of a building, calling out to its neighbors (if you listen to crows, you can easily tell the difference between their various caws) -- so I spoke back to it, "Caw!" and it mimicked me, like a Parisian would a bad French accent, "Caw!" It made laugh so hard.
