This evening in honor of the eight seasons retrospective we watched a great episode from s2, Tall Tales.

I love how fully formed the character of the Trickster already is in this episode.  The knowledge that he is also a renegade Archangel with all the powers of an Archangel makes it even more wonderful.  And Bobby!  Jim is so great in this ep, really whipping the boys back into line.

My favorite thing about this ep of course is the way the boys jibe at each other.   I love the way they misremember Dean at the bar with Starla -- each in their own way.  Jared is having such a great time in this ep!  :D    Sam is so cross with Dean throughout the ep, and Dean is mostly a put upon big brother and annoying in his own way.  :)   I love the whole vibe where the two of them snipe at each other and Bobby calls them an old married couple.  The payoff is at the end when they apologize to one another wordlessly over the roof of the Impala.  What a great ep.  Now I want to watch all the Gabriel eps one after another.  :)

The fight on the bed is so fun!

I still hope to do a few drabbles for these seasons.  I had a busy weekend and then had son and husband home today sick.  So, I'm behind!

I refuse to acknowledge that these Angels (and some Demons) are 100% gone.

2x15 is one of the most narratively interesting episodes, and an experiment I found wildly successful. I LOVE the retrospective re-tellings they go through when Bobby shows up! :PPPPP I'd really love for them to do more in that vein sometime. Not quite to the level of 8x04... But like, Tall Tales? Or the one that's told primarily from the ghost's POV (and has "House of the Rising Sun" as its prominent musical motif)? One of my favorite episodes ever!!

yes -- they executed it brilliantly. but then the high production values have always been so well maintained on Show. I always feel that they succeed with their most experimental formats.
