New Gerbil!

Yesterday my son and I drove out to get another gerbil.  We currently have four gerbils -- old man Donnie, who is now aged four!! -- and brothers Armstrong, Aldrin and Naranbattar.  That is Naranbattar in the icon.

Our new gerbil is called Misty. Idk why, she is solid black just like Donnie.  She is a skittish thing and we had to sign a bite disclaimer. I think if she had not been a biter we wouldn't have driven so far for her.  Since we love gerbils so much, we are the proper owners for a nervous, bitey girl.  We will soon have her tamed and reassured.  She took several sunflower seeds from me already this morning.  There were a lot of sweet looking bunnies at the shelter as well, but I don't think my allergies will ever tolerate another rabbit.  Lucky gerbils are so small.  :)

We had a brief experiment with a kitten.  Unfortunately I kept choking.  So I had to give the beautiful kitten to my friend, where she is very happy.  During the kitten phase we discovered that we really prefer gerbils.  I never would have predicted it!!    There were also two sister rats at the Shelter.  We are not prepared for rats right now, but I predict we will have them someday.  The bright little faces of the rats were so adorable.

I have tickets to see the Doctor Who special next Saturday!

I had 26 gerbils when I was your son's age. I got into rats as a punky teenager and I LOVED them. It's a good next step.

Rats are awesome. We have considered getting rats but are so happy with gerbils -- who have the advantage that they are much smaller. :)

Oh, the little details that are coming out are so awesome. Saturday is almost here!!

Naranbattar means "sunshine hero" in Mongolian. He is great!
