Saw the Martian!  it was great.  loved the book.  not especially a fan of Matt Damon, but he did a good job in the show.  Not enough Sebastian Stan.... but any Stan is better than no Stan. :D  There's a fantastic Stan athon from the Salt Lake Comic Con.  He is adorable. I love the way actors think about their work; it's a very mysterious craft and it's fun to watch Sebastian talk about acting because he is very much inside being an actor and always thinking in terms of the craft.  Two favorite moments in that interview-- at the very beginning when he comes out the audience is cheering and he does a stage bow.  As a musician, I've always noticed the different bows people give.  Musicians give the tiniest bows with their arms at their sides, they bow their heads.  Dancers give elaborate, full body bows.  Stage actors throw their arms out and bow from the waist.  So it makes me really happy to see Sebastian give a real stage actor bow... he is a well-trained stage actor.. a different job from film -- but it's fun to see that he remembers his roots! Second favorite is around minute 11 when he talks to someone in Romanian.  Romanian is a latinate language with a strong Slavic influence, so it's very fun to listen to. If you know French you can pick out a word or two. :)
.... Steve and Bucky came with to see the Martian, but then they were alone together in a darkened theatre and forgot to watch. :P  I think Bucky would have liked it, but Steve doesn't like the feeling that he is the only man left, it's too close to home.  Bucky would like the problem solving and the way Mark Watney (the astronaut who has to survive on Mars) dedicates himself to survival, one challenge at a time.

Got shrinky dink plastic in the mail!  Made my first two shrinky dinks: a tag that says SGR JBB and a Cap Shield.  I've never made Shrinky dink before, but had to after reading the incredibly good "Sing me the Alphabet" by thesardine.    Thinking about making a shrinky dink Agent Peggy Carter.  It sounds kind of macabre though.  o_O

Haven't started watching Agents of Shield yet.  deeply ambivalent about the show.  honestly, I don't like it.  but it ties in. so that makes me watch it.  argh.

Yay Supernatural SEASON FREAKING ELEVEN.  how even.  idefk.  I sat down on the couch with no expectations and an hour later stood up going, wow, I still really care about these guys.

Watched the season finale of  iZombie last night.  That is a very angsty show.  I like the characters a lot.

Wincon on FRIDAY!!!!

I'm in the home stretches on a very long horror story over on AO3 with Steve and Bucky and 1938 Cleveland and Eliot Ness and Peggy and Natasha and Erskine and Pierce etc.  It's called "the Madman" and it is coming together.  :D

I don't think I have a new idea for a Nano.  I have two novels completed that I need to keep working on, and then too, it would be fun to try and file off The Madman.  It's a pretty cool story I think.  Anybody out there think I have a novel idea that I don't realize I have?? :D

It's fun posting the little action theatres.   Steve and Bucky go everywhere with me, they might as well have their day in the sun.

Does anyone know why a mac laptop would stop talking to a projector???  very stressful. The hardware was willing, but the devices just wouldn't talk.  argh.

I have been having some pretty good success with a new exercise and food regimen.  Walking for half an hour first thing every morning is really a lovely experience.  I even go out in the rain!  I've gotten much better at the Tabata intervals... i can do like 30 military pushups (strength is my forte)... my aerobic fitness is much better... my pants are fitting better.... I'm sleeping well.  There are many advantages to the new regimen.  Also, it's veg and protein centric, so I am eating lots of vegetables, and that has to be good... fewer carbs, less sugar and alcohol.  V8 is my very good friend.  (I actually love v8).  I think that one key to the success of this regimen is that I actually believe it will work. My body's ability to build muscle mass works for me in this regimen.  :D

I am in a daze, waiting for Friday.  Wincon, ho!  :D :D :D

It was YEARS ago now, hon, that we met in the SPN fandom!! 11 years!!! Go, boys! I just noticed that netflix has put all 10 seasons on for streaming...and I'm debating jumping back in. That fandom absolutely was the shift I needed for my writing. I think of it fondly.

Two novels!!! Go, you!

I love my morning walks. Spiritual and physical! :)

You have been a real highlight of my online experience. I always love reading your posts and hearing your thoughts and especially looking at your photographs. Also the way you redecorate your house is inspiring.

I really loved those wildlife cam shots of the mountain lion!! WOW!! here on the east coast, mountain lions are just a myth.

I don't know how much you need to watch to jump back in, but I do think that some of these later seasons would be more enjoyable shotgunning, than waiting week to week. Some of the plotlines that are less enjoyable are over in 4-6 episodes then you don't have to worry about them any more. :) The show is still very good despite how many years it's gone on, and there are a lot of great characters and developments in the later seasons. :D

i don't have the patience to sit through forty minutes of sebstan - i feel like a bad fan but i have other stuff to do also i don't like his hair enough to look at it for any length of time - but i love that they included clips from the covenant and hot tub time machine in his intro montage. and i still need to watch his episodes of ouat. i've never seen the show so i expect i'll be very confused, and i don't care.

his face when that one girl starts speaking romanian is PRICELESS. he totally lights up. their whole conversation is fucking adorable.

if you don't like agents of shield, don't watch it! life's too short. ask someone who does watch it to fill you in, if you don't want to miss any of the tie-in-y stuff.

isn't izombie good? the new season just started. :D

re Agents of Shield, I keep reading fanfic where Coulson is heartlessly brainwashing everyone and is basically Hydra.... but I don't know how much he has actually done on the show and how much people are extrapolating. :P

I liked that Sebastian spoke Romanian to the girl because I kind of wondered how fluent he remains, since he left Romania at age 8. He probably still speaks it with his mother. ... I love that he is currently romantically linked to another former "communist" Margarita Levieva. In the segment he says "I never read any comics as a kid because I was a COMMUNIST" in a very dry tone. :D

I actually kind of agree with you about his hair... I love his hair but he tries too hard too style it and then it gets all stiff. He should totally do the man bun everyone has him do in fic. :D :D ... but don't you think his tee shirt *ie the muscles inside the shirt* more than makes up for the hair?? plus, all the cute things he says!!! :D :D :D I should precis it for you line by line. :P

I watched the Covenant but could not bring myself to watch Hot Tub Time Machine. what do you think, should I bring my vast collection of Chris Evans dvds to Wincon? I even have the Loss of a Teardrop Diamond! :D

I tried to watch the Mad Hatter, but I couldn't find much. I kept finding the same scenes over and over. I don't think it amounts to much. o_o

I think Veronica Mars is one of the top best shows, so iZombie has to walk in some pretty big shoes... but I do think it's pretty good!! :D

did you see the Martian yet? I loved it.

hot tub time machine is a terrible movie and i can't in good conscience recommend it for small amount of screentime that sebstan has. altho he plays a staunch anti-commie, which is kind of funny.

he's said in interviews (well, one that i know of) that he speaks romanian with his mom, so i'd bet he's still pretty fluent. and his arms and chest, while stretching his t-shirt in really nice ways, don't quite make up for the bad hair. i assume it's civil war hair, but are they still shooting? why hasn't he cut it off yet? (i'm not a fan of man buns in general, but maybe a ponytail....)

i have not yet seen the martian! i think there's going to be an outing sunday night at wincon, so i can see it with fangirls.

if you bring chris evans, people will watch. :D i mean, come on, chris evans.

I really love the quandaries that Sam and Dean find themselves in. They try so hard to do the right thing! It's very gripping. :)

Thanks for your well wishes! wincon is all fans, so it's just a big party that never stops. woo hoo!!!
