1. Make a list of 5 things that you can see without getting up.
I live in a very small house, so I can see my entire downstairs, that includes my dining table, piano, kitchen to the left, hoosier cabinet, couch and media corner (cds, lps, and vhs abounding), my three downstairs bookshelves, two out of three gerbil tanks; out my side window I see my shed and out my westward windows I see rainy day.

2. How do you style your hair?
I've been working on getting my hair down to my knees. I wear it in a braid, with bangs.  I do put it up sometimes as well!

3. What are you wearing now?
My eleven year old silver Doc Martens, jeans, a really soft long sleeved gap t, my leather rain hat (I don't usually take off my hat when I come in!)  silver heart earrings, my silver tag that says BELIEVE --I tried to tap letter dies into the other side so it would say SING but I was only moderately successful; assorted rings, big silver cuff, steel wrist watch. And since spring does seem to be on the way, only one piece of silk underwear -a camisole.

4. What's your occupation?
I schedule arts events, I teach music, and I perform. I also do copy editing.

5. What do you hear right now? My son on our new other laptop.

6. Who was the last person you hugged? offspring

7. What is/was for dinner? broccoli

8. What's the last tv show you watched?
the Daily show was on at our friends' house on Mardi Gras.

9. Dog person or cat person? Gerbils?

10. If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?
Now I'm imagining under what circumstances i might HAVE TO change my name... like, witness protection or something.  o_O   When I was in high school I had to choose a French name for French class, and I was called Clarice, which I enjoyed.  I also have a miniature golf name:  Fiery Orlinda.  (My husband is The Claw, and my son is Beyonjim Scarey.)
11. What was the last thing that you bought?
Ha!  I bought a Luna Blanket from Lunapads.com, because today is the last day of their 20% off sale for Women's Month.

12. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Mongolia.
13. Where do you see yourself in five years? Seminary?
14. Favourite book? Frankenstein.

15. What are you doing this weekend?
Work, plus husband's new Shakespeare show.

16. If you could play any musical instrument, which one would you play?
Well, I have a new hammered dulcimer I'm working on.

17. How are you? congested
18. What are you doing tomorrow? day off!

Are you sure you're not channeling my daughter? She had hair to the back of her knees until she was 24, and she plays fiddle and hammer dulcimer, is a professional musician and also teaches violin...

My hair is ALMOST down to my knees; I haven't cut it since I turned 18!

Someone very generously gave me the hammered dulcimer about a month ago, so I am trying to learn a few of my favorite songs on it. It goes out of tune easily and takes a long time to retune!! It seems to respond to humidity, so I blame all the rain...

Does she also read Romanticism? :)

I thought I'd pick out the "most me" icon... which today seems to be either solitaire or Dean, with Dean winning out. I like the way he casually inflicts his Motorhead on the unsuspecting listener. I get a big kick out of busking heavy metal out of my folksinger appearance. :)

Yay for hair and Frankenstein and the seminary.

I would love to join you in Mongolia - I would love to ride across that vast and mysterious country on horseback.

I have been viewing youtubes of Mongolia and reading poems and looking at picture books and I am becoming more and more convinced that I need to go there. (my Nano that is in revision takes place in Mongolia. What was I thinking?!)

don't you mean mule back? :)

But in Mongolia they still have a wild horse, a horse that has never been domesticated. Isn't that just the best thing??

my phD focus was Romanticism, and my diss was on Mary Shelley's novels and her relationship to the utopian social theory of her day. :) Young Severus is reading Lodore. :P

I did a critical history of Frankenstein last year; it might be my favorite paper so far, just an endlessly interesting novel to write about. (Huh. Looks like I need to make a Frankenstein icon...)

I just bought The Bride on DVD, so I think my Frankenstein icon might look like Sting in 19th century costume! :)

There is a graphic representation of the history of SF which has been recently referred to on my flist... it does the right thing in mentioning both Frankenstein and one of my favorite early fantastic writers, Margaret Cavendish -- but it neglects to mention a cool book by Mary W. Shelley's father, William Godwin -- who wrote St. Leon (1799), a story about a man who entirely fails to perfect human society through the use of the Philosopher's Stone and the Elixir Vitae.
