Today is a genuine Day Off. My son went away on Spring Break and I am taking the day off.  The sun is up and the birds are singing.  Yesterday my husband and I took a very nice stroll around a nearby lake and I almost stepped on a muskrat.  Someday soon I hope to start a photobucket so I can share some of the lovely pictures I've taken this spring, including several muskrats!

Today will be a big day of straightening the house, planting some seeds, taking a nice walk somewhere, and enjoying myself, hopefully work a little on my new songs.  I have a very hard piece by Purcell that I need to perfect by Easter, when I will also be playing guitar in a sunrise service outside at 6:15!  Actually, greeting the sun outside on Easter morning is one of my very favorite ways to celebrate the day.

Apparently the Daleks are ready to help me relax!   This youtube made me shriek with laughter.  Dalek Relaxation Tape  :D

A lot of media was watched by me in March!!!  However, I also walked 45 miles in March, bringing my total up to 58 miles so far.  It still seems kind of wrong that I've watched more eps than I have walked miles!  Still, I've completed two new songs, and have two more that I hope to record this week!

It is now 8:10 am, I finally finished this entry, and now time to get out of bed and start the day!  :D  Wishing everyone out there a lovely April morning!

[53] Doctor Who: The Mind Robber (1968, s6, story 45) Two, Jamie and Zoe go to an unknown dimension, where anything they can dream up is possible.
Dir.    David Maloney.  Patrick Troughton, Frazer Hines,   (Hamish Wilson played Jamie in Episode 2 & 3 due to Frazer Hines' contracting chicken pox) Wendy Padbury, Emrys Jones as the Master of the Land of Fiction, Bernard Horsfall
To escape from a volcano the Doctor uses an emergency unit which moves the TARDIS out of normal time and space. They find themselves in a white void, where they are menaced by White Robots.   They next find themselves in a land of fiction, where they meet fictional characters like Gulliver who looks a lot like a Thal we just met on the Planet of the Daleks.  The Master of the Land of Fiction is a pulp fiction writer being controlled by a Master Brain computer. The Master is desperate to escape and wants the Doctor to take his place.  I liked this ep.  Two is a very emotional Doctor.  He always seems on the verge of panicking.  I like Jamie -- he is the very Handsy companion and is always grabbing Zoe or the Doctor.  Zoe had an awesome sparkly catsuit, and got to engage in some fun judo.  We found the white robots very menacing.  I liked that the writer's old comic strip was about Captain Jack Harkaway!

[54, 55, 56] Supernatural:  7.16 Out with the Old (3-16-12); 7.17 The Born-Again Identity (3-23-12); 7.18 Party on Garth (3-30-12);
I am fairly pleased with the way s7 is going.  I really liked the monster in the most recent ep!

[57, 58, 59] Community:  3.11 Urban Matrimony and the Sandwich Arts (3-15-12);  3.12 Contemporary Impressionists (3-22-12); 3.13 Digital Exploration of Interior Design (3-29-12).  The episode about Subway is brilliant!

[60, 61] 30 Rock: 6.11 St. Patrick's Day (3-15-12); 6.14 The Shower Principle (3-29-12).  Community is my gateway drug to watching shows that come on the same channel later that night.  I like Tina Fey all right.  I laugh that Mel from Flight of the Conchords is still the same crazy character!

[62] The Office: 8.19 Get the Girl (3-15-12).  My son is desperate to watch Catherine Tate in her role as Nellie.  She is awesome of course but it comes on too late!

[63-72] Scrubs: First Season, first ten eps (fall 01).  Scrubs is like the proto-Community.  We found a huge set of all the DVDs and are watching it slowly.  It seems fun!

[73] Movie: The Inglorious Bastards 1978.  Italian: Quel maledetto treno blindato!  An old "spaghetti" movie my husband wanted to watch -- inspired Tarantino's remake.  Fred Williamson is a highlight.

[74] Movie:  Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. 2011 BBC Films.  Dir. Lasse Halstrom; with Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt, Amr Waked, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Rachael Stirling; Writers: Simon Beaufoy (screenplay), Paul Torday (novel). With our offspring away on spring break with his grandparents, we went to see a movie! Our local theater gets good movies.  We also watched the Beginners there.  This time Ewan got to have a Scottish accent! There were problems with this movie but it was charming… the fish were very beautiful.

[75] Clocking Off  1.1 The Leaches' story (1-23-2000) with John Simm as the main character.   My husband was so dubious about watching but it got off to an interesting start in this first ep.   Yvonne's story is up next!  :)
