OMG FLAIL THE NEW DOCTOR WHO MINI EP BEST THING EVER FLAIL FLAIL.
Moffat has surpassed himself by SO MUCH in this mini-ep. I tear up just thinking about it!!!!!
I have tickets for the anniversary show in just over one week. WOW. Am looking forward to it!!!!
also have you seen this mouse try to get a big cracker over the ledge?
I passed 25,000 words on my Nano and it is indeed Nov. 15! I get up at 6 when my husband leaves the house and write until 7:30 when my son needs to get up. During that time I can write about 1500 words unless I am distracted by RESEARCH. I am having a good time with my Nano, but it will need ALL THE EDITING. Anyway, it is indeed flowing. It's basically the novel I've been not writing since I was about 19. :) Once I get it out, I will be free to write other, more interesting novels. :) I had the sinking feeling yesterday that Penny Arcade scooped me. But, even though my novel is partly about the Tithe, that's only the beginning of the story. It has been a plot device since Midsummer Night's Dream after all! There are so many books about the Fae, but this is MY book about the Fae. I am also not writing the ballad of Tam Lin, yay. :D It's very interesting to me that I am addicted to fanfiction (really) but right now the story I most want to read is the one I am writing. That's good I guess!
Did you guys know Allie Brosh's book is out at last? Christmas present!!!
also she was interviewed by Terry Gross on Fresh Air
Who is watching Elementary? The new eps about Mycroft are very interesting, are they not?
JLM has been one of my Adored British Movie Stars since Trainspotting and Plunkett and Macleane, but I am so loving him as Sherlock. And wow, I am really loving Joan, though I still think they have made a few missteps. A friend reassures me that some surgeons really do get to know their patients... so I guess it is at least plausible. The guy who plays Mycroft is perfectly cast to be JLM's brother. I'm aware that Rhys Ifans is famous, but I haven't actually seen him in anything. He is doing wonderfully. We'll see if they can continue to develop Sherlock's relationship with Gregson and Bell.

Date: 2013-11-15 04:31 pm (UTC)Yay for nano!!! Sounds like you've really created the just-right discipline for yourself! It's so exciting when you carve out this piece of time and the muse actually shows up to share it with you!
I love that Penny Arcade piece. Have you read Pamela Dean's "Tam Lin" version? Not sure how I feel about that - fun but weak on style.

Date: 2013-11-16 05:55 am (UTC)And I just caught up on Elementary! I am so intrigued by Mycroft's scheming. What is he up to and whom is working with? Do you know if he is like that in the ACD canon? He's fairly ambiguous in Sherlock too, but in the Ritchie movie he seemed fine. Also, I find it kind of hilarious that Watson/Mycroft is now canon. :D

Date: 2013-11-16 11:44 pm (UTC)I am not sure what to think about Joan/Mycroft. I'm kind of with Sherlock on that one! What was she thinking? shudder!!! ... and now we know that his motives are not pure. I think he works for Moriarty but it would be nice if it was something more interesting. :) I mean, schemes within schemes, what if Irene was only pretending to be Moriarty at Mycroft's behest -- or, what if Mycroft really still IS the British Government, and this is all some sort of elaborate stress test to help "prove" Sherlock??? I like Elementary because it is a deceptively simple, well-crafted show. It eventually pulls things together without TOO much drama. :)

Date: 2013-11-17 04:34 am (UTC)Joan/Mycroft would be kind of a train wreck, I'm sure, but Sherlock's response was too funny, so I'm glad they went that way if only for that. Kind of hoping it's not Moriarty he's working for, if only because I'd like to see the list of Sherlock and Joan's enemies expanded a bit. Though Sherlock did get that letter from Moriarty, so it seems she's still in play!
