title: A Satisfactory Arrangement
author: [livejournal.com profile] fannishliss
Fandom: Elementary
Pairing: Joan Watson/Sherlock Holmes
Rating: Explicit
words: 2878

Summary: Joan finds that Sherlock's proposals usually work out well in the end.

Author's Notes: I really enjoy Elementary. I don't ship them to the extent that I would want them to be lovers on the show.  But it is fun to think about the possibility.  :D   This is for Porn Battle XV: The Ides of Porn.

Comments are love!

read the story! )

Shippping Joan/Sherlock..... well, I guess I do ship them for a certain value of shipping.  :P  I mean, I think the show has done a fantastic job of creating their relationship as being based on mutual trust and respect and the fact that they just *get* each other. And are willing to fight each other to make it clear that respect must be paramount.   So I certainly do ship the hell out of that.

OMG FLAIL THE NEW DOCTOR WHO MINI EP BEST THING EVER FLAIL FLAIL.
Moffat has surpassed himself by SO MUCH in this mini-ep. I tear up just thinking about it!!!!!
I have tickets for the anniversary show in just over one week.  WOW.  Am looking forward to it!!!!

also have you seen this mouse try to get a big cracker over the ledge?

I passed 25,000 words on my Nano and it is indeed Nov. 15! I get up at 6 when my husband leaves the house and write until 7:30 when my son needs to get up.  During that time I can write about 1500 words unless I am distracted by RESEARCH.  I am having a good time with my Nano, but it will need ALL THE EDITING. Anyway, it is indeed flowing.  It's basically the novel I've been not writing since I was about 19.  :) Once I get it out, I will be free to write other, more interesting novels. :)   I had the sinking feeling yesterday that Penny Arcade scooped me.  But, even though my novel is partly about the Tithe, that's only the beginning of the story. It has been a plot device since Midsummer Night's Dream after all!  There are so many books about the Fae, but this is MY book about the Fae. I am also not writing the ballad of Tam Lin, yay.  :D  It's very interesting to me that I am addicted to fanfiction (really)  but right now the story I most want to read is the one I am writing.  That's good I guess!

Did you guys know Allie Brosh's book is out at last? Christmas present!!!
also she was interviewed by Terry Gross on Fresh Air

Who is watching Elementary?  The new eps about Mycroft are very interesting, are they not?
JLM has been one of my Adored British Movie Stars since Trainspotting and Plunkett and Macleane, but I am so loving him as Sherlock.  And wow, I am really loving Joan, though I still think they have made a few missteps.  A friend reassures me that some surgeons really do get to know their patients... so I guess it is at least plausible.  The guy who plays Mycroft is perfectly cast to be JLM's brother.   I'm aware that Rhys Ifans is famous, but I haven't actually seen him in anything.  He is doing wonderfully.  We'll see if they can continue to develop Sherlock's relationship with Gregson and Bell.

I just read two really good articles at racebending.com

The first is about Elementary and Lucy Liu's casting as Dr. Joan Watson.

I guess we make some tiny step forward just by using the term "yellowface" (comparable to black face), by learning of its history (not just the Talons of Weng Chiang), and by being dismayed that it is still so common.  There are plenty of actors with Asian heritage.  Why not use them?

I can't believe I actually managed to write an episode reaction to a show the very first episode without even missing part of it!!  Usually I only watch a show like two or three years after it was first made. :P

Anyway, I was pretty interested in watching this new Sherlock adaptation starring Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu.

spoilers )

ps, I saw two very familiar faces on the show leading in, "Person of Interest" with Ben from Lost and Amy Acker.    Only the scenes with the two of them were any good.  It looks like a terrible premise.  And oh, Miles from Lost was also there, and I like him, but that other guy was Not a person of interest.  Urgh.  it was a slog, sadly.  Ben from Lost, you can do better -- you and Amy both, you are terribly overpowered for this level of work.  And btw ?   AMY ACKER, you are a fantastic actor!!  You were so 3D in that 2D role! you go girl!!!
