Dear friends,
I thought a fun way to celebrate the awesomeness of season four would be to put together the soundtrack, so I did. Many thanks to the folks at Superwiki for the complete list of music for the episodes of s4! Sorry, Bardic, I also did not include Burl Ives....
There are not a TON of classic songs this season, but there are more than you think at first!
I like to listen to CDs in my car, so I made a CD and filled it out with seventeen tracks.
If you would like to request a copy of the CD (not mpgs, but regular), let me know at fannishliss at gmail dot com! I am also willing to adjust if there are any songs you hate or really want added (sorry, Jason Manns!--it just doesn't fit, you know?)
More about the Soundtrack under the cut.
+AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long (4.01 Lazarus Rising)
[this song just speaks for itself, you know?]
oJason Manns - Vision [DELETED FROM THIS MIX --DW]
Dean: I almost forgot! Hey sweetheart, d’you miss me? ... What the hell is that.
Sam: That’s an iPod jack.
Dean: You were supposed to take care of her, not douche her up.
Sam: Dean, I thought it was my car!
+ Billy Squier - Lonely Is the Night (4.02 Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean)
Lonely is the night when you find yourself alone
Your demons come to light and your mind is not your own
Lonely is the night when there’s no one left to call
You feel the time is right--the writing’s on the wall
It’s a high time to fight when the walls are closing in
Call it what you like—it’s time you got to win
[I saw Billy Squier in concert in 1991. The crowd went mad at the opening riff. And he just stood there smiling while everyone screamed. It was awesome.]
+ The Allman Brothers - Ramblin' Man (4.03 In The Beginning)
Dean: Can you uh, tell me where I can get reception on this thing?
John: The USS Enterprise?
+ Survivor - Eye Of the Tiger (4.06 Yellow Fever)
Dean: Am I Haunted?!?! ...
Sam: I just talked to Bobby. You’re not going to like it. It’s ghost sickness.
Dean: Ghost sickness. God, no.... I don’t even know what that is.
+ Bad Company - Ready For Love ( 4.10 Heaven And Hell)
Anna: ... It wasn’t your fault. You should forgive yourself.
Dean: Anna, I don’t wanna, uh, uh, I don’t wanna, I can’t talk about that. ...
Anna: I know. But when you can. ...
+ Foreigner - Long, Long Way From Home (4.13 After School Special)
It was my destiny, It's what we needed to do
They were telling me, I'm telling you
I'm looking out for the two of us
I hope we'll be here when they're through with us
Dean: Got your lunch? books? butterfly knife?
Sam: Yeah, Dean.
+ White Zombie - Thunder Kiss '65 (4.14 Sex And Violence)
“Strippers, Sammy! Strippers. We are on an actual case involving strippers: finally!”
“I’m looking for three girls: Jasmine, Aurora, and Ariel.”
+ The Kinks - A Well-Respected Man (4.17 It's A Terrible Life)
“lemon? and what was it? cayenne? and maple syrup, are you serious? how much did you lose?”
BUILDING THE DREAM
Sam: Do I know you?
Dean: I don’t think so.
Sam: I’m sorry man, you just look really familiar.
Dean: Save it for the health club, pal.
[The Master Cleanse is Tasty. Best with a LOT of cayenne!]
(4.18 The Monster At The End Of This Book)
+ Led Zeppelin -- Ramble On
+ Led Zeppelin -- Travelling Riverside Blues
Sera Seige: Sam’s score on the LSAT.
Sam: One... seventy.... four?
Sera Seige: Dean’s favorite song?
Dean: It’s a tie. Between Zep’s Ramblin On, and Travellin Riverside Blues.
[Proving that Dean purchase the BBC Sessions when it was released in 1997; and apparently, it IS available on cassette!]
+ Kansas - Carry On, Wayward Son (4.22 Lucifer Rising)
[yeah! but feel free to ask for some other Kansas song instead! I have ALL their albums]
BONUS TRACKS: [or you know, whatever]
+ AC/DC: Hell's Bells
+ Van Halen: Runnin With the Devil
+ Evanescence: Lose Control
+ Tool: Schism
+ Asia: The Heat of the Moment (yay Mystery Spot!)
+ Triumph: Fight the Good Fight
(the only song ever to not be Carry On Wayward Son!)
two of the songs are sourced from vinyl -- but I got lazy and sourced the other two I had on vinyl from iTunes :)

Date: 2009-05-21 06:36 pm (UTC)Just the Bonus Tracks were ones that I chose to fill out the CD. I had to add the Evanescence, since there are No Girls! (It is my Sam/Ruby song.) Tool, also, since they are the Spiritual Godsons of Kansas and Yes and the other prog rock folks.
I had to make a new soundtrack because my old Impala mix was getting TOO old. :) ("onoz! plz no moar Renegade!")

Date: 2009-05-22 12:42 am (UTC)Okay - enough with the teasing! I have playlists on my iPod for each of the seasons with as much of the music as I could find from my collection, iTunes, or friends, and I have a massive playlist of songs that were either used on the show or remind me of it. I burned so many CDs that I finally gave up and installed an iPod jack in my convertible - but Dean wouldn't have noticed it, since it hides in the center box behind the gearshift!

I used to really Hate REO. Then I found myself in record stores buying their LPs. .... and I'm all like "Keep on Lovin You" is really a great song, isn't it!... heh heh.
Then I never really cared much for Bad Company. But you couldn't tell that from how many times I've played their best of album since, oh, say, NOVEMBER 20, 2008.
:)
And of course, even tho I am a metal fan, I'd never even listened to a Motorhead track.... they are more of a "legend" than a real presence on the radio or in record collections... but I turned out to love them! I have no idea if I would have been able to tolerate Lemmy's painful singing voice if they had not been mentioned in the pilot.
Also I am being ABSOLUTELY CONSUMED by my desire to own a classic car. Unfortunately, I am a working artist so I'm not rolling in disposable income... Yesterday I saw an AMAZING Impala sitting in my neighborhood -- it was a fifties one though, but with all the incredible fins. kind of like this one: http://www.calcruising.com/ChevyImpalaSportsCoupe1958ForSale.html
sigh!

Date: 2009-07-07 02:58 am (UTC)I've really been enjoying the s4 soundtrack, and there were a lot of pieces that were not ones I was super familiar with.
I want to do s3 next! :)
